The International Danube Festival Ulm\/Neu-Ulm and the VH Ulm present: <\/strong>Reading and talk with BARBI MARKOVI<\/strong>\u0106<\/strong>& BOJAN SAVI\u0106 OSTOJI\u0106<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two authors from Belgrade, whose childhood and adulthood were strongly influenced by the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s, testify to the power of language and literature in their violent but humorous stories. In a time that seems like an \"eternal night\", writing and reading books proves to be a place of refuge, but also a place of resistance and new possibilities.<\/p>\n

Barbi Markovic will be focussing on her pop novel \"Die verschissene Zeit\" and Bojan Savic Ostojic has the book \"Nichts geh\u00f6rt niemand\" in his luggage.<\/p>\n

The discussion with the two authors and the audience will focus on life experience and creative realisation during a formative period. How is it possible to witness the disintegration of a society and not be broken by it?<\/p>\n

About the author:
\nBarbi Markovic (born 1980) in Belgrade, studied German literature and has lived in Vienna since 2006. In 2009, Markovi\u0107 caused a sensation with the Thomas Bernhard remix novel \"Ausgehen\". In 2016, she published the novel \"Superheldinnen\", for which she received the Alpha Literature Prize, the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize and the Priessnitz Prize in 2019. Barbi Markovi\u0107 read at the Bachmann Prize in 2017. Numerous short stories, theatre plays and radio plays. In 2023, Barbi Markovi\u0107 received the Berlin Art Prize for Literature. Most recently published by Residenz Verlag: \"Die verschissene Zeit\" (2021) and \"Minihorror\" (2023). Leipzig Book Prize 2024 for \"Minihorror\". Carl-Amery-Literaturpreis 2024 for her literary work.

Bojan Savi\u0107 Ostoji\u0107 (born 1983) is a Serbian writer and poet. He has published several volumes of poetry, collections of fragments, the novella Punkt (in German translation: Punkt, Edition Taberna Kritika, Bern, 2023) and the novels Nema oaze (Engl. There is no oasis), Nichts geh\u00f6rt niemand and Vreme vode (Engl. The time of water). He translates from
\nFrench, sings in the band Klot and lives in Belgrade.
