Rivers play a special role in the work of Austrian author Franziska F\u00fcchsl as well as in the texts of Bosnian author Faruk \u0160ehi\u0107 and are among the central motifs of their writing. Both the river M\u00fch, to which F\u00fcchsl's new book is dedicated, and the Una from \u0160ehi\u0107's novel, which was recently translated into German, are tributaries of the Danube - the thematic axis of the International Danube Festival Ulm\/Neu-Ulm. At the same time, the prose of both authors is strongly characterised by lyrical forms, which is why they are also guests of the Ulm Poetry Summer.<\/p>\n

F\u00fcchsl and \u0160ehi\u0107 will first introduce themselves to the audience in separate readings, followed by a discussion moderated by Udo Eberl and Florian L. Arnold, authors and cultural actors who live and work on the Ulm and Neu-Ulm sections of the long Danube bank.<\/p>\n

\u201eInterwoven with a playful gesture F\u00fcchsl<\/strong> Geology and history. Her text feels its way to the edges of what can be said - to where rivers get lost and the homeland disintegrates into metonymies.\u201c Jury of the Nature writing Award 2025<\/p>\n

\u201eProtagonist of the novel by \u0160ehi\u0107<\/strong> tells of the brutality of war in drastic words and contrasts his traumatic memories with the force and beauty of nature in the image of the indifferently flowing Una.\u201c Sabine Tholund<\/p>\n
