Sidy Thal - a schtikl

13/07, 19:30 - 21:30

The International Danube Festival Ulm/Neu-Ulm, the Ulm Theatre, the Cultural Advisor for the Danube Region at the DZM, the German Cultural Forum for Eastern Europe and the Moses Mendelssohn Foundation will be presenting: A staged reading by and with Thoma Perle and with Christel Mayr, Emma Lotta Wegner, Jan Walter, Thomas Perle

On 26 November 1938, two hand grenades exploded in the auditorium during a performance by the Jewish-Bukovinian singer Sidy Thal at the Timisoara Theatre. An anti-Semitic attack, perpetrated by the extreme right-wing nationalist Legionaries movement, in which four people died and seventy were injured. An event, hardly known in the city, to which Thomas Perle dedicated himself for the German State Theatre in Timisoara. The play SIDY THAL was premiered there in cooperation with the Jewish State Theatre Bucharest under the direction of Clemens Bechtel as part of the Capital of Culture 2023.
