Henning Dampel has been shaking up the Ulm jazz scene for several years with virtuoso and atmospheric jazz piano. Creativity and improvisation are clearly in the foreground for him - and even if it sounds really jazzy here and there, a harmonious sound is always important to him. His penchant for Cuban montuno music, as it appears in salsa, for example, shines through again and again in his playing. In Andreas Schnell, Dampel has found a bassist who, with his fine feeling for the right accompaniment, is an ideal trio partner. Known for his excellent guitar playing, Schnell also sets accents with his solos and thus provides a good variety of sounds. Drummer Bernward Schäfer completes the trio and impresses the audience with his lively playing and rhythmic versatility. Together, the three musicians form a top-class trio with a fresh and varied selection of songs, consisting of virtuoso, energetic but also atmospheric original compositions as well as arrangements of classic jazz standards.
