BirtRock from Chișinău

Snails come from Chișinău (Moldova) and bring their unmistakable energy directly along the Danube. They formed in the 1990s as a school band who were crazy about the sound of the 60s: raw, honest and full of passion. With three albums, number 1 hits on Radio Guerrilla (Romania) and productions in Sweden and London, Snails have long since established a firm place for themselves in the scene. Songs like „Superbasuri“, a milestone of Moldovan rock of the 2000s, or „Blue Passports“, known from several European feature films and documentaries, show their musical range and depth.

But Snails are more than just music: for years, the band has been actively involved in supporting young musicians in Moldova - with heart, attitude and behaviour. Since 2023, Snails have been opening a new chapter: a conscious return to their roots - as a rock band and as Romanians from Bessarabia. Their current sound is called BirtRock (from the Romanian word birt - pub): a powerful mix of folk motifs, blues, rock and surf, direct, earthy and full of stories. A Snails concert feels like a long night in a loud, honest pub: laugh out loud, sing along, live along.
