Clara (OmU) - Danube Film & Stars

The young Romanian Clara has left her home in the small Romanian fishing village of Dubova on the Danube, and with it her 12-year-old son Ionut, to earn money for the family in Germany. She now lives thousands of kilometres upstream with a German family - her little foster child Johanna, whom she loves like a mother, his father Markus and his grandmother Edith. Ionut increasingly becomes a distant voice on the phone. The elegant southern German city on the Danube becomes more and more her new home. But then Ionut, who lives in the care of his grandfather, suddenly disappears. A catastrophe that suddenly reveals the hopeless situation Clara finds herself in. She takes time off to travel to her distant homeland, not knowing whether her child is still alive, whether she will see Johanna and her new home again and how things are supposed to continue.
