The Vienna Symphony Orchestra, one of the world's most renowned orchestras, will perform the DONAU SYMPHONY in front of the imposing backdrop of Ulm Minster. The highly acclaimed work by the famous musical composer Frank Wildhorn, an American with European roots, makes the eventful history of this river of destiny over thousands of years audible and tangible: heroism and romance as well as natural phenomena of the seasons from sunshine and gentle winds to violent storms and thunderstorms, emotionally touching memories and dedications add up to a unique musical experience.
Frank Wildhorn, who has been nominated for Grammy, Emmy and Tony awards, describes the impetus for his magnum opus and, by his own admission, the pinnacle of his artistic career as follows: "It was all Walter Feucht's idea. He is my friend and mentor. It was his passion and his vision. It all started on his birthday during a walk along the banks of the Danube in Ulm."
A few stone's throws away from the birthplace of the symphony, it will soon be performed at a summer night concert with around 80 musicians from Vienna's top orchestra. As at the premiere in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, Dutch conductor Koen Schoots, who is well-known in Europe and America, will conduct the orchestra. The opulent programme also includes special suites from Wildhorn's Broadway musical classics Jekyll & Hyde and Dracula, which recently celebrated their symphonic debut.
