The from Michal Tallo published Slovakian-German edition of the book „Young poetry from Slovakia“ (danube books publishing house, Ulm) offers an exciting and diverse insight into contemporary Slovakian poetry. It includes contributions from thirteen Slovakian poetic voices, from which Ana Siedykh and Veronica Dianišková will present their poems on this evening - the poems will be heard in both languages.
According to the editor, one of the central characteristics of contemporary Slovakian poetry is „open commitment“. Why committed art is often viewed critically in Slovakia today will be the subject of a discussion between Renáta Pavlová, the evening's moderator, the two poets and the editor. They will exchange views on the credo „The private is political!“ - and discuss what this means for young Slovakian poets.
This programme is a joint event of the International Danube Festival Ulm/Neu-Ulm and the Ulm Poetry Summer.
